Columbia Heights Public Schools Implements Smore to Enhance Electronic Communication with Families
Columbia Heights Public Schools (CHPS) has implemented the use of Smore – an online platform to create cohesive, branded newsletters – to enhance communications with families. The District began using the platform in June.
“Adding Smore to our storehouse of tools at both the district and school level is an important step to improving our communication with families,” said Communication Coordinator Lauryn Grimes. “Smore allows us to send HTML-responsive emails with pre-designed templates so families can expect consistency in communication across schools.”
Grimes noted the biggest benefit of Smore are the accessibility options. “The ability to translate these communications into virtually any language, change the text size or view in high-contract mode provides additional options to better engage with all members of our audience.”
Newsletters created using Smore can be sent out through various channels including Blackboard, Seesaw, social media and more.
If you have a student enrolled in CHPS and have not been receiving these emails, contact your student’s school to ensure you have an active email address on file and are opted in to receive email. External stakeholders are encouraged to subscribe to the District’s HylanderCONNECT emails by visiting the District website and clicking the “SUBSCRIBE to receive CHPS news by email” button.
